A Salty Collab

Now with Harrison on board, it was only fitting that he had his very own created. As Harrison and Thomas Bexon, both being from Noosa are great mates so it only seemed fair that they both spend some time together at the temple working on a sled that would suit Harrison’s surfing as well as keeping in theme with Thomas’ shapes. What they came up with is something special (a “Harrison Roach Concept”). Turning a number of blanks into a series of 9’4 sanded finish logs, with 50-50 rails turned up and pinched at the nose. 3″ thick with double 6oz glass on the deck with 4oz underneath. These things go sick! with knifey rails they turn and hold really … View More

The Beautiful and Insatiable

If you know motorbikes you know discontent. It’s the unavoidable consequence of motorcycling. No matter what bike you run, no matter how bomb-proof your setup is, there’s always something else you’ve got your eye on, some new gorgeous brunette of an itch that can’t not be scratched. It’s like a rash of ecstasy that appears out of nowhere. And it’s a beautiful thing. With a year of custom builds under our belt here at The Emporium of Postmodern Activities, we’ve watched build after build come out of Woolie’s Workshop, scratching itch after head-turning itch, with everything coming up roses. It’s been an amazing experience to behold. We wanted to take this opportunity to give praise to Woolie and say thanks … View More

2012 The Year That Was

As another year rolls by we get a little older, wiser and fatter, with four flagship stores scattered around the world and an ever growing family. This time of year gives us a chance to reflect this little thing called Deus, created by a bunch of mates out of workshop in Sydney focused on building beautiful custom motorcycles. From there we turned to the foam to ply the same level of craft to hand-shaped surfboards, and are now expanding with a full blown menswear range to boot. With our boys hosting crazy events in Venice, California, to the awesome waves in Bali and soon-to-be Deus Milan the word of Deus will spread even further over the next 12 months. That being said, we can’t … View More

DELAMINATED

DELAMINATED was the moniker we gave our vintage skate swap meet. Tongue-in-cheek as usual, like most of our naming goes. For those who don’t know, delamination is the separation of the pressed layers of plywood that are sandwiched together to create a skateboard. Not a good thing. Figuratively, you could do the mental gymnastics to arrive at the idea of delamination as a deconstruction of sorts, and apply this idea to skateboarding, its history and a swap meet revolving around it all and have it make sense. And it does. But this may have been one of the rare cases where our tongue in cheek naming conventions led us astray, because DELAMINATED was entirely too awesome to have any unfortunate … View More

The House Was A Temple

Temple is the latest collaboration between LA film maker, Jack Coleman and Dustin Humphrey. The film showcases a project which involves some of the worlds most talented and creative shapers in the industry including Thomas Bexon, Ellis Ericson, Josh hall, Neal Purchase Jr and others, offering them some quality r’n’r at the temple allowing them to shape their foamular visions, to then be tried and styled by the likes of Alex Knost, Matt Chojnacki, Matt Cuddihy, Salsa and Husni to name a few. First stop of the tour was our very own ‘House Of Simple Pleasures’. Wednesday saw a bunch of salty surfers coming from both ends of Sydney to settle in the Camperdown space for beer, pizza before experiencing 30 … View More

Great Scott!

Everybody has their favorite period in time. A bunch of quiff wearing diner lovers have converted a Newcastle warehouse the size of two hangers into one of the most well themed museums around. Their decade of choice was the 50s and there is no chance of forgetting as you step inside the diner where you are greeted by a novelty sized waiter. As you start to take everything in you start to build an appetite but quickly realize that the gas hobs dont work and that the girl behind the register is just there to look pretty. If you hang around the diner long enough it starts to get interesting as your attention turns to the Batman theme tune! As you walk to … View More

Deus X Sanbah Opening Party

Every great concept is worth celebrating, the Deus X Sanbah pop up store is no different. Last Thursday night saw the official launch of the store. Located at the corner of Union St and Glebe Rd in the Junction, Newcastle. The party goers were treated to live music and their hands kept chilled with drinks supplied by the folks over at the King St Hotel. The night was a good chance for the locals to learn about the the Deus culture. Big thanks to Rhys and the crew from Sanbah for helping put on a great shindig. The store will be trading from now until the end of Jan. Just like any Deus store, we will be selling our season collections as … View More
