While everyone was thinking outside the box, we moved right on in.

After our wild wooly ride up the east coast of Oz from Sydney, north to Noosa, which Harrison Roach has already so eloquently waxed lyrically about, so much so that if you havent already, you gotta take some time out from your busy schedules to go back n’ check out what he’s written here on the blog. Arriving in Noosa was like turning a light on, we seeemed to burst out of the clouds and into the sun as we came over the rise and rolled down the hill into town. Sun shone upon everything. Man, it was if we couldn’t put a foot wrong. From the moment our little band of braggards hitched their rides up they were out … View More

THE DUCT TAPE INVITATIONAL, NOOSA

Last Friday in Noosa, we saw the sixth installment of the Joel Tudor, Duct Tape Invitational, presented by Vans. Sixteen of the best log riders from across the world came together to slide and jive through a day of waves. First Point Noosa hadn’t seen such perfect conditions for longboarding all year. Joel Tudor, mentor of every surfer involved and brainchild of the occasion, took the crowd through the criteria from the commentators box. * “Boards must be over nine feet long. They must be single fin, with no leash or leash plug. Boards must weigh more than twelve pounds. Surfers are expected to surf as though they are the love child of David Nuuhiwa and Nat Young. Gentlemen’s rules, … View More

The Vans Joel Tudor Duct Tape Invitational

The fun has not stopped… We are just finding it difficult getting content up between surfing and shooting perfect waves and extra curricular activities in the evenings… One of the big high lights of the week was ‘The Vans Joel Tudor Duct Tape Invitational’! Not just because our boy Harry Roach won, but because it was a rad event. Thanks to Joel and the rest of the crew for putting it on! Enjoy this little clip!

‘AINT WE GOT FUN’

We had a hell of a time at Thomas Surfboards the other night for the premiere of ‘AINT WE GOT FUN’….

They’re twistin’, twistin’, they’re twistin’ the night away

After a roller coaster trip up Australia’s east coast you can bet we were glad to pull into the safe harbour of Noosa to rest saddle sores and dry our somewhat sodden clothes. Little did we know that there was another storm brewing. Emphasis on the brew. Saturday night we’d asked kindred spirits, Thomas Surfboards if they had a spare bedsheet they’d let us nail to the wall in order to splash our latest little motion flick up onto. Entitled “Ain’t we got fun”, it charts the collaborative effort of Harrison and Thomas zipping to Bali, zapping to Java then Back to Bali and finally a solo trip by Harrison. It wasn’t a quest for frequent flyer miles, rather the … View More

Top Gear Fest – Thats a wrap!

So another action packed weekend has come to pass. We now have time to catch our breath again. With the Top Gear Festival in full swing, the Deus crew was flat out battling the 30+ degree temps over the two days out at the Sydney Motorsport Park. With a full featured stand, including a NASA Airstream Van, The Chev truck, 2 Corvettes and of course 15 odd bikes, Deus had a huge presence across the entire venue, enough so that Captain Slow (James May) decided to beat the heat under our stand while oggling over the beautiful works of metal and rubber. As the festival provided more events and attractions than one could poke a stick at including, Webber setting a new … View More

North to Noosa: Chapter 4.

Byron Bay and its eclectic group of locals, wandering hippies and backpackers are always interesting to visit, but this road trip wasn’t dubbed North to Noosa so that we could lose our minds in northern New South Whales. After a couple of cozy nights in Suffolk park we were itching to be ‘on the road again’. We left Byron Bay and its grassy hills mid morning, with our final destination just four hours away. No time to visit the Gold Coast, our boards are too weird to be appreciated around the Quiksilver Pro. No interest in Logan, no interest in Brisbane and definitely no interest in Caboolture. We were on a direct path to Hastings Street and first point Noosa. … View More

North to Noosa: Chapter 3.

On these cool, sunny afternoons, the ride from Grafton to Byron Bay is pure bliss. With van in tow, we rode north along the Clarence River, holding tight for the gust of wind as each semi-trailer passed in the opposite direction. Our excitement increased as we passed each town, knowing that once Ballina was behind us, we were on the home straight. I’m not much of a believer, but the green hills inland from Byron Bay are how I imagine God’s country. Riding above the grassy hills, soaked in sunshine with a view of the ocean, it felt grand to be back in familiar territory. To Husni’s delight, we pointed out Lennox to the south and Byron to the north. … View More
