The Harrison Roach Chronicles: Indonesia, part 1.

Hey you loggers! Indonesia is more than it’s cracked up to be. Magazines have told us more than a thousand tales of perfect waves since Tom Carrol and Martin Potter were featured in the VHS movie “The Hole”, yet they’ve chosen to ignore the tastes of many a longboarder. Longboards aren’t made for the heaving waves of the Mentawaiis or the spinning lefts of the Bukhet Peninsula. They’re made for long perfect waves under head high. And guess what? Indonesia has a few cards up its sleeve to please an ever-growing clique of noseriding maestros. It’s even started to produce some of it’s own to rival the worlds best. Husni Rihwand has appeared frequently in cyber space but I find … View More

A VEILED CONCEPT

Over the past four weeks I’ve gotten barreled, hung ten and surfed myself into the ground on numerous occasions. I was presented with a unique opportunity to surf and work alongside Thomas Bexon for the creation of a new single-fin longboard. Both Thomas and I embraced the chance to build a surfboard that I will eventually use all over the world. We were lucky enough to travel to Java so that I could familiarize myself with some of Thomas’ previously shaped boards before beginning work. After a week of perfect waves we then headed back to Bali for the creation of my new, personalized model. With Thomas washed clean of the foam dust and headed home to Australia I decided … View More

Oil and Water

Things tend to get interesting when oil and water mix. You could use that as a metaphor for when a bunch of Moto GP stars get together in a small country town in Australia to take part in an event which involves dirt and oil rather than sealed tarmac. Being from Taree, Troy Bayliss hosted a dirt tracking event last weekend. Appropriately dubbed “The Troy Bayliss Classic” an invitational event consisting of 12 of some of the worlds best Moto GP racers including the likes of, Jason Crump, Garry McCoy, Chris Vermeulen, Randy de Puniet, Broc Parkes, Damian Cudlin, Toby Price, Chris Hollis, Paul Caslick and the list goes on. With an expected crowd of 6000+ which is easy to … View More

The Beautiful and Insatiable

If you know motorbikes you know discontent. It’s the unavoidable consequence of motorcycling. No matter what bike you run, no matter how bomb-proof your setup is, there’s always something else you’ve got your eye on, some new gorgeous brunette of an itch that can’t not be scratched. It’s like a rash of ecstasy that appears out of nowhere. And it’s a beautiful thing. With a year of custom builds under our belt here at The Emporium of Postmodern Activities, we’ve watched build after build come out of Woolie’s Workshop, scratching itch after head-turning itch, with everything coming up roses. It’s been an amazing experience to behold. We wanted to take this opportunity to give praise to Woolie and say thanks … View More

2012 The Year That Was

As another year rolls by we get a little older, wiser and fatter, with four flagship stores scattered around the world and an ever growing family. This time of year gives us a chance to reflect this little thing called Deus, created by a bunch of mates out of workshop in Sydney focused on building beautiful custom motorcycles. From there we turned to the foam to ply the same level of craft to hand-shaped surfboards, and are now expanding with a full blown menswear range to boot. With our boys hosting crazy events in Venice, California, to the awesome waves in Bali and soon-to-be Deus Milan the word of Deus will spread even further over the next 12 months. That being said, we can’t … View More

What’s Your Favorite

Just like our Bali brothers, we’ve seen many pairs of rubber come through our workshop this year. Ranging from scorpios, SRs, Ws, Harleys and everything in between. We all have our own personal preferences depending on what sorta thing your into. Because each bike has its own personality Its not so much as trying to pick a winner per-sae but rather what you vibe with. We have just pulled a few builds back from the course of the year so you can decide which one you favor! If your favorite isn’t here then follow the link to choose from the wider range.

Temple – Premiere at the Hideout

On this cool evening in December, Thalia Surf Shop and Raen Optics came together with the Deus Emporium of Postmodern Activities to premiere the new film, Temple. Jack Coleman made a real doozie with this one, manifesting the life and happenings and shred in the water and sacred rice pads of Canggu, Bali. Thalia hosted the hoopla at their new workspace/domain/hideout/fortress in Dana Point, right at the epicenter of classic Southern Californian surf culture. Raen joined in as well to launch the slick shades we collaborated with them on. The second chapter of the evening was rather rambunctious as The Hindu Pirates played an amazing set deep in the corridor of The Hideout. Sharing our Temple with Jack’s home crowd … View More
