‘Tracking’ on Land

Flat days happen, even in Bali, and as the sun reclines through the late afternoon sky, your ideal shooting light slips away like a single fin without a leash. Undeterred by no swell, Jimmy, Ellis and Jason continue to shoot their film collaboration regardless. After ducking into Deus and grabbing the ‘Bali Dog’ and a vintage style ‘Journey’ skateboard, an evening tow session went down smoother than a Bali sunset.

Ellis Ericson

“The days of nose riding have passed and the short-board revolution is upon us“states Ellis Ericson when asked about the direction he is going with his crafts coming out the shaping bay.” The trim is still essential but now its time to turn!“he quickly adds to his statement. As his shapes transitioned their way along a past time line, the first couple of sleds to come to light were some experiments for himself and Jason ‘Salsa’ Salisbury…Both with their sights set on screen time in the final surf trip for the up and coming ‘Tracking‘ movie by the man known as Jimmy James. The boys are leaving town next week atop a trio of fossil fueled machines, with swell in … View More

Jake the laminator

When you’re checkin’ out new boards in the rack, sliding your hands over the rail and deck, the first thing you look to is the measurements and after that, the shapers name. But apart from its shape, who made that board so aesthetically pleasing? If you’re lucky, It was Jake ‘The laminator’ Bowrey. It’s very often over looked, but what can make or break a well shaped board is the glass job, and what separates it’s look from any other is its finishing touches like clean work and resin tints. So from behind the curtain and into the limelight we are bringing you one of the guys that puts the class in the glass. Jake Bowrey hails from Westward Ho, … View More

Stevie Gee

Stevie Gee touched down island side, immediately posted himself up in his allocated Joglo and got straight to creating his impending exhibition. Unperturbed by turbulence and not faded by jetlag there was a quick supply run into town, before he got down to mixing paints and popping pen lids. As I write, glancing across the studio, Stevie Gee is drawing up the graphics to lay on some hand crafted old skool skate decks. Next up on the creativity list for the day is finalizing the designs for resin tinting onto awaiting surfboards…and then some time in the glassing bay to join some hand foiled fins to his freshly wet creations. Watching him pull a 1.5 meter screen across the curved … View More

‘Sunday’

‘Mustang’, our chief mechanic, has been busy both in and out of our Bengkel it seems. He must just love the constant cacophony of a welding buzz, squealing torque wrenches and the throaty roar of exhausts…It’s a regular metallic symphony down there. During all the commotion here in the Temple’s Bengkel, how could anyone find time for a passion project?  You could build it at home in your own living room! And boy did he do just that! Due to an engine being the heart of the beast, it deifinatley took some tweaking and here’s what he did to create the aptly named ‘Sunday’ First of all, get a Wiseco piston in there. Beef up the exhaust and intake valves, change the … View More

“Take a Ride on this Wood”

Our man Marcus snorts more wood dust in one day, than Keith Richards when ‘The Stones’ toured though the “Lone Star” state in 1978… I mean this man pisses resin when he wakes in the night. He handles more wood in a day than a Kuta toss off queen all week long; I’ve seen a dog walk up and piss on his leg he has so much bark on them!  If you haven’t figured it out by now, our man Marcus is a wood worker. He builds surfboards that crank out bottom turns and skateboards that carve out bowls like a hippie making wood pipes at a Grateful Dead show for Tofu money. So if you want your feet on an ‘Eco-Friendly’ wood rider … View More
